Do you want to contribute to the development of our research data management infrastructure, and do you want to be part of a creative team in an international environment? Department of Agroecology, Aarhus university is seeking a software engineer, full stack developer or similar to participate in digitalization of data and workflows and management of our data, tools and services. The position can be partly remote.
The position is available from 1 March 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
About the job
You will be part of a research environment that has focus on research data management based on the FAIR principles. This group is also responsible for the IT Infrastructure and data management in projects related to e.g. the green transition and precision agriculture (data from automated sensors, robots, drones and satellites). There will be many tasks and areas of responsibility; the most important ones are listed below:
- Supporting the user community in research data management based on the FAIR principles.
- Maintaining data and managing standard data definitions, metadata, data quality standards, and data life cycle.
- You will work with colleagues across the Department of Agroecology supported by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and OrbitLab.
- One specific task will be to improve our existing international digital disease platforms with a focus on the application and frontend layers (see the Global rust reference center website and the EuroBlight website for more information).
Your profile
We expect that you will be an important part of the department research data management environment, and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment.
Furthermore, we imagine that you:
- Have a relevant IT professional education or experience as for example, software engineer, IT architect, data manager or, experience with digitization of processes and IoT.
- have a broad technical understanding with skills in C#, .Net, SQL, ASP.NET, Cloud computing as well as possibly HTML and CSS and open-source programming languages, e.g., Python, PhP, R-programming language.
- have experience working with large and heterogeneous datasets and exchange of data between platforms e.g., RESTful APIs.
- have enhanced communication skills with data owners and other stakeholders
- have a diplomatic sense and can dedicate yourself to a complex organization
- work independently and are both proactive and constructive in your approach to tasks and colleagues

At the Department of Agroecology, our main goal is to contribute to sustainable solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems within the areas of soil, plants, animals, humans, and the environment. We want to make a difference by contributing to both fundamental knowledge generation and the attainment of sustainable production systems via innovative research, contracted policy advice, and education. We offer professional laboratories, greenhouses, semi-field, and field-scale research facilities, advanced computing capacities as well as an extensive national and international researcher network. Workplace
Your primary working place will be AU Flakkebjerg, Forsøgsvej 1, 4200 Slagelse, but during a transition period, 2023-2025, you will also work closely together with Colleagues at AU, Foulum, where the Digital Disease Platforms currently is maintained and hosted. The position can be partly remote.
